Do you have the Wigs factor?

2 Sep

Big hair has always been as important to X Factor as the singing, thanks to Cheryl Cole.

But now it’s been revealed Kelly Rowland is bringing a whole new style-trend to the judges table – wigs!

Friends told newspapers this week that Kelly gives her natural locks a lift using hairpieces. She likes them, they say, because it helps her try out lots of different looks and it’s easy to chop and change.

Whether wigs truly are the secret of her gorgeous glossy hair, if you’re a girl who likes to change her hairstyle frequently, maybe you should try a wig as well.

Made with both human or synthetic hair, Dream Girl has a range of wigs designed to recreate any hairstyle you’re looking for.

The first step is to pick the style you’re looking for. If it’s instant length then go for either straight, wavy or layered looks. We’ve had a look for a few that most closely resemble Kelly’s glam style.

For straight hair Kim is a long layered style with a little flick at the ends. It comes in six colours. A short fringe makes it on trend for autumn and adds a girly look.

If you’re looking for wavy hair why not go for a wig named after Kelly’s former bandmate, Beyonce. Long and wavy from the back so it sits perfectly on the shoulders with a simple parted fringe. It’s available in four colours.

Nillu is one of Dream Girl’s most popular layered wigs. Long, feminine and in seven colours it’s easy to match to your skin tone and style.

Each of these styles is in stock and can be yours for under £20. Investing in a wig, you can spend as much or as little as you like. Each Dream Girl wig is made to produce a natural look but each wig suits each person in a different way.

If it’s your first time some tips on how to fit your wig.

You want to make your natural hair as flat and smooth as possible. Any bumps and it will show in your wig. If your hair is mid length or long then separate your hair into small sections, twist each section around your finger and secure to your scalp with a grip. A wig liner or cap with fit over your hair. If you have short hair it’ll fit snugly over that. Fit the wig beginning at the nape of the neck and tip your head forward slightly. Ear tabs will help you keep it straight. If there’s a lace front it will sit on your forehead, a fringe will do the same trick though.

A wig should feel secure and look natural. Play with the hair to make sure it sits comfortably. Like your own hair or hair extensions, your wig will need looking after to make sure it stays looking natural and healthy.
