Going for a crop

15 Mar

We have to admit it. Not everyone wants long hair.

And it’s true, some people look awesome with short crops. Anne Hathaway might have cried when they cut her hair off for Les Miserables but you have to say she looks gorgeous with her shorter locks. Michelle Williams is the same. Even though she says she’s growing out her cropped style she looks fab with the pixie style that brings out her eyes.

We get it. We totally get it. We spend a lot of time talking about the versatility of long hair, about adding length and volume with hair extensions when there are some people saying “nope, cut it all off”.

It’s a big step though, cutting off your hair. There is someone at Dream Girl who cut off their hair because they quite liked Gywneth Paltrow’s hair in Sliding Doors and it took six years to grow back. Six. Long. Years.

It’s a huge decision. You have to go with something that suits you, that brings out your best features and suits the shape of your face.

There’s a halfway house between weeping over your shorn locks on the floor of the hairdresser and wondering if a pixie crop would suit you. How about going for a wig?

Different short styles doing different people. You can go for something short underneath but keep a side swept fringe if you want to make your cheekbones zing. You might want to make a statement with a super short bob that looks quite indie and alternative. If you like a little length to play with you might want something curly and slightly shaggy that you can restyle.

Whatever look you have in mind it’s worth exploring what’s on offer in Dream Girl’s wigs collection. Including our Chic Collection the wigs we have in our shop are in a range of styles and price points. Choose Standard Wigs and tick the “short” box and you’ll find a range of styles depending on what look to go for.

Remember, it doesn’t stop there. If you’ve got a wig you like but it needs tweaking then you can bring it to your stylist and then can trim it for you to create a style that designed especially for you. All you need to do is book an appointment with them and make sure the wig is fitted properly when you head to the salon. Your stylist will then be able to give you advice on what kind of style will suit your face shape and your features.

You don’t have to chop off all your hair to enjoy a shorter style. We all like a change and we all like to wonder what we’d look like with uber short hair. A wig is the perfect halfway house. It allows you to test drive a new style before you go for the chop.

And remember, if you do decide to cut your hair off and you hate it, you only need two inches of growth to get hair extensions fitted!

Hair extensions have a reputation for damaging your natural hair or causing pain to the wearer but this only applies to a few methods of application and occurs most when the extensions are incorrectly applied so when done properly there’s little to worry about.
