Trend alert: A splash of colour!

21 Jun

We’ve seen a new trend and you’re going to want to try it.

It was first spotted on the Oscar de la Renta catwalk show for SS13 and now it’s spreading further.

It’s a great addition to your look for a night out, if you’ve got a formal event but want to show a little of your personality. It could even be a quirky addition to a bridesmaid outfit (get permission from the bride first though!)

It’s a streak of colour in an up-do and it’s easy to achieve without reaching for the bottle of hair dye.

Dream Girl’s clip-on hair extensions feature a range called Fancies which are bright colours that add just the right amount of WOW to your look.

So what do you need to do to recreate the style?

The finished look you’re going for is kind of reminiscent of a raspberry swirl ice cream. The vanilla (or chocolate, depending on what colour your hair is) should have swirls of bright colour running through it.

The first thing you need to do is pick the shade of colour you want. We’ve got red, pink, green, or blue but you choose what suits you. It might be your favourite colour, it might go with your favourite shoes.

Fit into your hair at regular intervals. If you divide your hair into sections you want to layer the clip-ons, that way you get an even spread of colour.

The style on the catwalks this look worked with was a 60s beehive up-do. Begin by backcombing hair. Start at the roots and work out to the tips. Once hair is backcombed work it into a chignon. Start at the nape of the neck and twist upwards until you reach the crown. The ends of your hair get tucked underneath and then pin to secure.

The fringe and the crown can be swept back to cover any loose ends. Backcomb a little extra for good measure and pin back.

Add a little spray and you’re ready to go.
