Time for summer hair!

2 Aug

School’s out, college has called time until September, we’re booking our holidays and heading to the beach. Summer is a time for fun, frolics and sunshine.

At Dream Girl we want to help you make the most of your hair this summer. Make sure you stay cool with our up-dos. Use our extensions to give yourself long and luscious locks. You can still have long hair and look cool in the sun.

1. All American Ponytail

Who doesn’t love a sleek ponytail? In the sun it’s ideal as it keeps the hair from your face. It’s also a great way to get a little volume and glamour into your everyday look with minimum effort.

Use a Dream Girl pony extension to add a little length to your own hair. Choose either a drawstring or a clip to attach to your hair. Choose a shade that closely matches your own so that it blends in seamlessly with your own hair.

Start by back-combing hair at the crown. This will help give you a little lift at the roots. Comb hair back into a high ponytail and fasten into place. Clip over the hair extension ponytail. Take a section of hair from underneath the pony and twist around the bobble to cover the join. Pin in place, using extra pins if you want to add extra security to your pony extensions, even though it should need it. Use a little serum to smooth any ends and add a little spray to fix in place.

Swing the pony to the side if you want a side swept look that’s also funky and on trend.

2. The messy bun

This is a great look that doesn’t look too ‘done’ although you can keep it fairly styled. It’s all about what looks great to you.

Use clip on hair extensions to add a little volume and thickness to your natural hair. If your hair is fine once you put it in a bun it might look quite small. Beef it up with hair extensions that are made of 100% hair extensions and that closely match your own hair colour.

To begin fit the clip on extensions into your hair, following the instructions. Next, tie your hair into a ponytail. Go for high, low or to the side, depending on how you’re feeling. Take the ponytail and twist it then coil it around the bobble. Pin it in place to secure. Take a few wispy strands of hair to frame your face. Add a little spray and you’re ready to go.

3. French Braid

Plaits and braids are big this year, we know. This is the classic style. If your hair is mid-length then you’re going to need a little help to achieve it. Use temporary clip on hair extensions or a more long term solution if you need a little extra length.

Begin at the top of your head and take a section of hair. Divide into three. Begin the braid. Once you’ve crossed ends a couple of times then take a section of hair from the left hand side of the head and incorporate it into the left hand strand of the braid. Cross the section across as you would have done while you were plaiting. Repeat on the right. Keep going until you reach the nape of the neck.

With longer hair you’ll have to keep plaiting until you reach the ends. Secure at the very tip. To hide the plait either tuck it under the braid at the nape of the neck or twist into a bun.

A great style for day or night. If you want soft waves wear this style during the day and then untie at night. Spray and your beach waves are ready to go.
