25 Oct

Just because your costume is designed to scare, it doesn’t mean you hair has to.

If you’ve got a Halloween party planned for the next couple of weeks then Dream Girl is here to help. We’re always on the lookout for costumes that combine just the right amount of glamour and spookiness – the perfect balance.

Here’s some tips for how to wear your hair to create a stylish and fun Halloween costume

Disney’s leading lady is feisty, strong and stunning. Those tumbling red locks are eye-catching as well. Opt for Dream Girl hair extensions in a French Deep Curl. We have a range of Reds for you to choose from.  Just fix the hair extensions over your natural locks and hey presto – a Disney star costume.

Katniss, The Hunger Games

Katniss is a kick ass character and her costume couldn’t be easier to recreate. For the hair you need long locks. If you only have short or medium length hair then use a Dream Girl Pony Drawstring. The braid should start under one ear and then twist around the nape of the neck to be worn over the other shoulder. If you’re using the ponytail hair extension choose a shade as close as possible to your own and clip into place. Begin braiding, taking hair from the front of the scalp and the nape of the neck, continuing until you reach the other side of the head. Plait all the way down and fasten at the bottom.

Betty Page

You can turn this costume into a nod to Katy Perry and 40s glamour, but if you want to go as the original pin-up girl then Betty Page has an iconic hairstyle that’s easy to recreate. You’ll need to curl your hair under. If your hair is short you’ll need either hair extensions or opt for a Dream Girl Chic Collection wig in dark hair. Curl hair using rollers. You need to turn your fringe under as well, to get that pin-up girl look. Spray hair once you’ve removed the rollers and match with a flick of liquid eyeliner and a red lip.

Gothic style

If in doubt go Gothic. There were plenty of Gothic inspired hairstyles and makeup on this season’s catwalks, so at least you’ll know you’ve opted for a cutting edge look. To recreate slick hair back along the sides and fix into a French twist. For the coif, backcomb hair at the roots and use as much hairspray as you can until it sticks straight up. Match with dramatic eyes and a vibrant lip colour, like this purple. If you don’t want to put your natural hair through the style, opt for a Chic Collection wig. That way it’s easier to see the style as you’re working
