Red carpet style everyday

17 Jan

When we look at the pictures of the Golden Globes with stars like Taylor Swift and Zooey Deschanel we want their style. But we find ourselves being inspired but also wondering when we can have our own red carpet moment.

At Dream Girl we love working out how we can wear our hair extensions in new and different ways so that you’re stylish and on trend. But we don’t want to have to make a decision between glitzy hairstyles and everyday ones. No, we want to have a red carpet moment every day.

So, inspired by this week’s Golden Globes here’s how you can be a star, whether it’s for school, college, or just a day at the office.

Be Taylor Swift

Combine just the right amount of retro glam and on-trend styling to get this look just right. The faux-bob is a great way to do something a little different with your long hair. The waves add texture. If you already have curly hair then this makes it easier. But you can still achieve it with straight hair. Instead of using heat divide hair into one inch sections, twist and pin. Use a little spray and hold them in place for at least half an hour for added definition. Once unfurled gather hair with your fingers into a low ponytail at the nape of the neck. Twist as if you would to style a bun. Then tuck the ends under and pin in place.

Match with an eye flick eyeliner and red lips.

Try a Sarah Hyland twist

The Modern Family star’s style here is fresh faced and just quirky enough so it’s ideal for a day look, as well as an evening one. Your long hair extensions will come into their own here. Middle part the hair and plait into two pigtails. Then simply twist and fix the plaits to the head, like a hairband.

Keep makeup fresh faced and natural.

Slick it back like Hayden

This is a look that’s back on trend. On the catwalks it’s more of a wet-look but Hayden here shows how to recreate the style without resorting to a slick style that can look a bit greasy. Once hair is dried simply use a little gel in a comb and slick the hair back away from the forehead. You’ll need spray to ensure hair is smooth and stays in place.

For makeup you want to keep it as simple as possible. Kohled eyes just add enough of the wow factor to get you through the day.

Keep it on the side like Zooey Deschanel

This is such a girly and feminine style it’s the perfect way to add a lift to your day – trust us, we’ve tried it. Style hair as normal. Comb a side parting – whichever side you like, and then gather hair over the opposite shoulder. Tie hair into a side ponytail covering the ear. Twist hair into a bun and then pin in place. Add a flower but if it’s daytime you might want to go au naturel.

Simply finish with a bright lipstick and you’re good to go.
